This week in reading workshop we learned about fix-up strategies readers use to to understand their just right books, such as re-reading, reading on, and picture clues. We also learned about Metacognition; which means "thinking about your thinking" when reading. Students practiced recording their thoughts using Metacognition thinking stems I'm thinking, I'm feeling, I'm seeing, I'm wondering, and I'm noticing. They used a giant thought bubble to share their thoughts.
The students had a great time playing Minute To Win It games this week! We working on teamwork and making choices that would enable a win-win outcome for all involved!
At the end of the day today we had a pep rally to motivate and excite our XC runners. Tomorrow is their home meet, Rumble in the Jungle. Come out to Creasey Mahan to cheer them on! Go Jack, Claire & Maddie!
Attached is the presentation from Parent Orientation Night. You can find our 2nd grade Handbook under the "more" tab.
